Sarah and Darren of SD PHOTOGRAPHY love their job like CRAAAAZY.  As soon as you meet these guys you will know it. Self confessed weirdos who love animals, houseplants, geometry & Game of Thrones (serious hipster-geek vibes!) – S&D are down to earth, super friendly and keen as beans to be there on your wedding day capturing all the feels with their candid unobtrusive approach – creating authentic, evoking images in rich, vibrant tones leaving you feeling all warm and emotional..

Our approach to shooting a wedding is pretty simple; we’ll keep it mostly candid (can’t beat a good caught-off-guard expression), capture moments as and when they happen, avoid cheesy clichés and most importantly let the couple and their guests have an almighty blast along the way! We love to make use of the surrounding context and incorporate textures and the like into some of our images – don’t be freaked out if you see us umm-ing and ahh-ing over an old rickety shed complete with peeling paint!

In all, we totally dig weddings – even had one ourselves once upon a time! So if you like what you hear and are looking for an untraditional, fine-art wedding photographer for your elopement or wedding, whether it be a local or an abroad affair, please feel free to give us a holler!

For our next Bridal Market foray we’re heading east where we’ll be taking over the gorgeous pastel coloured walls of  Edinburghs Biscuit Factory in the creative hub of Leith.

We are BEYOND excited at the endless possibilities to dress those crumbly, exposed brick walls with all our creative wedding goodness. As usual expect the absolute cream of the crop in wedding suppliers handpicked for you from throughout Scotland. This 2 day event is for modern couples looking to create stylish, relaxed & seriously FUN celebrations. (No chair covers or tartan ribbons here.)

For tickets & the lowdown head to the market info page – can’t wait to see you there and here all your ideas. (hello pinterest!)

What happens when The Glasgow Wedding Collective founders get married?  The most incredible day is what.  I don’t really have many words for this blog post.  I’ve spent all afternoon crying and laughing looking through the photos, trying to choose my favourites to blog .. and it’s been nigh impossible.  Being part of this wedding was a special special thing.  For this, is a #teamGWC wedding like no other …  It’s THE #teamGWC wedding.

We’re starting with the story… This, is Chris & Gillians wedding..
Oh my days – these pictures. THE FEELS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Christopher Currie Photography! Let’s do that again soon please. Let’s do your wedding all over again..

Well. By jings. What can we say . . . another DOOZIE of a Bridal Market was had!  A couple of weekends ago, on Sunday May 3rd, a team of GWC super-suppliers gathered together under the roof of chilly old fish market turned arts space, The Briggait, to bring wedding-havers in Glasgow A BIG COLOURFUL & CREATIVE WEDDING INSPIRATION PARTY! And that they did. That they did.

Photographers & Papergoods & Flowers & Donuts & lady-DJs – it was a fun & cheerful Sunday, as ever, & TeamGWC pulled out all the stops …

This week :

Scarlett Erskine Jewellery

Here’s Scarlett’s Q&A session :

1/ business:
Scarlett Erskine Jewellery
you/your team:
     Scarlett Erskine

2/ describe your workspace:
Currently I am working in Vanilla Ink Studios in WASPS Studios Meadow Mill. The studio consists of 12 other jewellers. I love having other creatives around me we can bounce ideas off each other. I like to have lists to keep me on track with jobs so my bench is surrounded by lists and calendars on my wall alongside funky pictures and postcards I have collected over the years. Also on my bench is my new collection of Aloe cacti plants 🙂

3/ where did it all begin?
I graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. Since graduating I joined Vanilla Ink Studios, where I worked on launching my first collection. I now make collections of jewellery which I sell in shops and galleries throughout the UK. One of my main passions is making commissions whether it be engagement or wedding rings or gifts for loved ones or a special piece of jewellery to treat yourself. I launched my first collection Exposed at International Jewellery London last year alongside my fellow Vanilla Inkers. I am currently still based at Vanilla Ink studios and look forward to moving into and decorating my own studio in Dundee within the next year.

4/ favourite work to date?
My Favourite piece to date was a special engagement ring I made. It was a white gold princess cut diamond ring made with a twist of my textured detail. I enjoyed designing around the princess cut diamond to show the beauty of the stone off. The piece for one of my best friends who I am now to be a bridesmaid at the wedding I have really enjoyed being a part of their journey.

5/ who/what inspires you?
Precious and semi precious gemstones really inspire me to make jewellery that can show off the stone to its full potential. The different cuts and facets within the gemstones influence the style and shapes within my jewellery.

6/ describe a typical day:
A typical day at Scarlett Erskine Jewellery begins in the workshop, I like to mix up doing different jobs hroughout the day to keep myself interested, I have a selection of stockists throughout the UK so I am usually working on collections for them. I also work on different commissions whether it be wedding rings or bridal party jewellery. At one point nearly every day I love to look through my collections of gemstones! I love gemstones and love the beauty they hold so there is always time to look through the stones and come up with different designs for them.

7/ where’s your favourite place to go?
One of my favourite places to go is the beach, I live in broughty ferry which has a big beautiful beach. I love coming out of the workshop in dundee and going to relax and switch off at the beach.

A lovely lass with brilliant designs!   We  l o v e  the textures!

To read a bit more about Scarlett & see more of her designs, head on over to the Jewellery category in our Directory.
& maybe there’s still time for a wee Christmas purchase… !!!
Go go go!Team GWC x
