Scarlett Erskine Jewellery

Here’s Scarlett’s Q&A session :

1/ business:
Scarlett Erskine Jewellery
you/your team:
     Scarlett Erskine

2/ describe your workspace:
Currently I am working in Vanilla Ink Studios in WASPS Studios Meadow Mill. The studio consists of 12 other jewellers. I love having other creatives around me we can bounce ideas off each other. I like to have lists to keep me on track with jobs so my bench is surrounded by lists and calendars on my wall alongside funky pictures and postcards I have collected over the years. Also on my bench is my new collection of Aloe cacti plants 🙂

3/ where did it all begin?
I graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. Since graduating I joined Vanilla Ink Studios, where I worked on launching my first collection. I now make collections of jewellery which I sell in shops and galleries throughout the UK. One of my main passions is making commissions whether it be engagement or wedding rings or gifts for loved ones or a special piece of jewellery to treat yourself. I launched my first collection Exposed at International Jewellery London last year alongside my fellow Vanilla Inkers. I am currently still based at Vanilla Ink studios and look forward to moving into and decorating my own studio in Dundee within the next year.

4/ favourite work to date?
My Favourite piece to date was a special engagement ring I made. It was a white gold princess cut diamond ring made with a twist of my textured detail. I enjoyed designing around the princess cut diamond to show the beauty of the stone off. The piece for one of my best friends who I am now to be a bridesmaid at the wedding I have really enjoyed being a part of their journey.

5/ who/what inspires you?
Precious and semi precious gemstones really inspire me to make jewellery that can show off the stone to its full potential. The different cuts and facets within the gemstones influence the style and shapes within my jewellery.

6/ describe a typical day:
A typical day at Scarlett Erskine Jewellery begins in the workshop, I like to mix up doing different jobs hroughout the day to keep myself interested, I have a selection of stockists throughout the UK so I am usually working on collections for them. I also work on different commissions whether it be wedding rings or bridal party jewellery. At one point nearly every day I love to look through my collections of gemstones! I love gemstones and love the beauty they hold so there is always time to look through the stones and come up with different designs for them.

7/ where’s your favourite place to go?
One of my favourite places to go is the beach, I live in broughty ferry which has a big beautiful beach. I love coming out of the workshop in dundee and going to relax and switch off at the beach.
